At Anglesea Sports Medicine we treat sports injuries and musculoskeletal conditions for all active people.

Sports injuries

We will provide advice on appropriate management for your injury and will tailor a plan to get you active again. Depending on the severity we may need to perform further investigations to determine the best course of action.

Acute and Chronic Injuries

Anglesea sports medicine specialists can help you treat and manage both acute and chronic sports injuries. This can include prescribing medication or braces, referring for appropriate diagnostic imaging, and advising you with ongoing rehabilitation to optimise your recovery.

Concussion Care

We provide specialist care for concussion assessment and management and can advise on how to return to sport safely. We can also refer for imaging or other tests if required.

Private health insurance

Our senior physician are all affiliated with Southern Cross, therefore we can claim directly on your behalf at your consultation. They are also recognised as specialists with other major insurers and consultations may be funded by your insurer. We recommend checking your policy prior to your appointment.

 Injections

Our doctors are trained to administer cortisone injections to most joints and soft tissue problems. These are commonly delivered to help with inflammation and pain, with the goal of getting people back to their everyday activities.

Teams and Events

We can provide medical cover for elite athletes and teams. Our highly skilled specialists have a vast amount of experience with covering local, national and international events.

Telehealth

Most of our doctors can provide telehealth reviews. This is helpful in the case of sickness, travel distance or offered as an alternative when wait times become lengthy.

Shock Wave Therapy

Fast and effective pain relief for common tendon injuries, particularly achilles, knee and elbow. You will be advised if the treatment is suitable for your injury.

Frequently asked questions

How long will I have to wait for an appointment?

Generally our wait time is between 4-6 weeks but this can vary depending on circumstances and doctor availability. We endeavor to do our best based on the level of urgency. We offer a waitlist to patients if cancellations spaces become available.

Do I need a referral?

Yes, you need a referral to see one of our specialists. You will need this prior to making an appointment. (Your GP or other health care provider can arrange this  for you). Our reception staff endeavour to make contact within 48 hours of receiving the referral.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

If you are unable to attend your appointment please call reception at the earliest convenience. If we do not receive notification at least 4 hours before your scheduled appointment you will be charged. If the missed appointment fee is not paid, no further bookings will be offered. Exceptions to this policy may be made at the discretion of the Practice Manager. 

Is there parking?

Yes, Anglesea Medical Precinct provide ample parking to all patients. Please be aware that number plate recognition cameras are in operation. You will be asked to provide your vehicle registration number at reception on arrival. This will allow you to enjoy 90 mins of free parking.

Is my appointment covered by ACC?

Provided you have a valid referral with an accepted and correctly listed ACC claim number, there is no surcharge to see one of our specialists.
